Pete's Splendid Happy Funtastic Super Good Time Non-Celebrity Playlist

Yes yes.. gather 'round children.. [Editor's note: do whatever the hell you want, kids]

#1) "Forget" {VS.} Mission of Burma. Even post-punk Bostonians need love too. Give it to them.

#2) "Chain Gang" {Portrait of a Legend} Sam Cooke. It will help you get through your daily grind.

#3) "Last Dayz" {Drum & Bass Warfare} Adam F feat. Pharoahe Monch. It will help you tear that shit down.

#4) "National Disgrace" {Seven's Travels} Atmosphere. Best. Whistling. Sample. Ever. "Do whatcha like, don't nobody care, it's a sign of success, only in America."

#5) "What's A Girl To Do?' {Fur and Gold} Bat For Lashes. Critics say she sounds like Bjork. But if I had a voice like Bjork, I'd be singing every word that passes through my lips [Ed. note: it's not that many words.] Bonus points for the trippy, E.T. inspired video.

#6) Most of the album {Kala} M.I.A. Rooster sample, check ('Bird Flu'). Gunshot/cash register sample, check ('Paper Planes'). The Pixies sample, check ('$20'). The Clash sample, check ('Paper Planes' again). Bollywood sample/cover, check ('Jimmy'). Traditional Indian instrument, check ('World Town'). Death stare from wife upon playing it in the car, check ('Boyz'). If you've ever asked the question, "What if Missy Elliott and Noam Chomsky got together in Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, and London and had alcohol-soaked conversations about the perils of globalism", then this album is for you.

#7) "I Feel It All" {The Reminder} Feist. Not the one on MTV ('1-2-3-4'). Not the one hawking LG's/Verizon's new Chocolate cell phone ('My Moon, My Man'), but this one.

#8) "Hatred Displayed" {Deadlivers} Grayskul. "This is 40 days and 40 nights and 40 ways to display hatred to all the planet's bad people. To all you bad people." You too, Mike Vick, whether you found Jesus or not.

#9) "I Hear Voices Pts. 1 & 2" {Operation: Doomsday} MF Doom. Fun with alliteration:
"If I may speak freely, nasty like the freaky-deaky at your local sleazy speak-easy".

#10) "Beam Me Up Dubby" {Scientist Dubs Culture Into A Parallel Universe} Scientist. Rum + Weed + Fish + Reggae = best country on the planet.

Good night.

I was stunned to Find

I was stunned to find
that I still have a reflection
a shadow that craves attention
the part that betrays ambition
that stares back
with uncanny recognition

while my side protects a wife
whose back is curled and relaxed

the green tea waiting to be drowned
with hot water and healthy desires

have I tricked change?
am I more now of what I lacked then?

the shadow of my fathers wrinkled suit
hanging on my dooknob beckons me
to start an unending day.
