What was I saying about turning this into a baby blog? It probably had something to do with what a great idea that is.

Anyway, now that Mara James has been introduced to the world, it is time for her to have an epic soundtrack to accompany her numerous poops & pees, spit-up, arm and leg flailings, naps, feedings, and adorable facial expressions - you know, songs that really capture the ups and downs of being a little baby in a big city. Dance While You Can

It's the end of June, y'all. That means two things: it will soon be brutally humid and awful, and we're at the halfway point of the year. So, it's time for another music list!!! I know you love these. These are the records that have made 2011 awesome/bearable so far, in order of when I thought of them.

The Mirah and Thao record is okay, I just got the WU LYF record and it's get better each time around, and I still haven't listened to the new records by Cults, Tennis, James Blake, or TV on the Radio. I'm sure they're all good. I'll get to them at some point. I also really, really like Twin-Hand Movement by Lower Dens, but that was released a year ago. I like being late to parties.

I've also been listening almost constantly to the new Beirut single, "East Harlem"/"Goshen". They're both really fucking great.

It Was the Best of Times, It Was the End of Times

Look at this shit, and honestly tell me that the world isn't coming to an end.

I'm not getting all Revelations-crazy or anything, but mother nature, at some point, is gonna pay us back for fucking up her atmosphere and oceans. And there ain't shit we can do about it.
